Who can make you feel inferior?

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” - Eleanor Roosevelt.
What do you take away from the above quote? This is one of my favorite quotes because I rely on these words when I have a confrontation or encounter a situation that makes me feel insecure or diminished in my capabilities.
Imagine someone telling you that you are stupid, ugly or don’t deserve to be here. The power of those words do not come from the deliverer, the power of those words come from within our own minds.
We are the ones who decide who we are, where we go in life, what we are worthy of. Be careful of what you allow to creep into your mind. People who try to bring you down, are doing so for purely selfish reasons most of the time. Some might try to bring you down because of their own insecurities, not because of anything you are lacking.
You ultimately are the one to decide whether their insecurities become your own. In your own mind, YOU DECIDE to believe what they say about you is true.
So, the next time someone, or an organization, or a group, or society, try to diminish you with their words, or personally attack you, remember that you have the CHOICE to give power to those words, and YOU decide whether you should feel inferior. The deliverer has no power to do that. Although they will always try.
